The bill, which still has to make it through the full Senate and House, would permit up to three resort casinos to be built as part of mixed-use developments. The facilities would include such amenities as restaurants, shopping and convention facilities. According to the News Service of Florida, the Regulated Industries Committee approved the bill 7-3.
“Now, I think people are going to wake up tomorrow and realize the threat is real,” said Mark Wilson, president of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, which opposes the bill. [CBS]
