Ulysse Nardin apart from making master class horological examples is now paying significant attention towards contributing to society in general. At the recently concluded 24th Annual Showboats International Rendezvous, they helped pump in $200,000 into a total corpus of $1 million, which is directed towards the betterment of theBoys & Girls Clubs of the Broward Country. During the event they unveiled several custom made watches, including the $1.1 million Royal Tourbillon watch, catering to the highest spenders on watches.
The Royal Tourbillon watch, is indeed regal is every respect possible, especially with respect to its design. Placed in a platinum body with 568 baguette cut diamonds, and 234 baguette cut royal blue sapphires, the timepiece is as blingy and haute horology as one can get them. The dial features a unique exposed skeleton design, which plays with royal blue and platinum colored plates to depict the time. The hours and minutes hands are itself rather artistic, looking at their thin handcrafted design. The lower half of the dial, which is platinum shaded, has the branding of the watchmaker in blue enamel, at the 4 and 8 âoâ clock positions. The casing on the other hand, has a rather intricate and thin line of royal blue sapphire crystals, something not seen in the strapping of the timepiece.
This event also saw the unveiling of several other limited edition timepieces, including the 5 distinctive Classico watches. All of these were customized by adding the engraved name plate of the highest bidder of these timepieces. The highest bid came for the new El Toro watch, which went for a price of $75,000.
